WHAT IS AGROFOOD EXPO?
Organized by Orient Expos and events (OREX), in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation. Ministry of Investment, Central Equitoria State Government and The South Sudan States’ Governments, AgroFood Expo is an exclusive agricultural forum that generates and bolsters agriculture and food in the Republic of South Sudan.
The South Sudan International AgroFood Expo is an Annual Trade event that brings together an assortment of industries together to showcase various Agricultural products and services from all around the globe into South Sudan. We focus to enable the direct interaction of farmers, producers, suppliers and end consumers of different agricultural products in order to foster trade, growth and sustainability. We have the main objecting of Agriculture for growth and sustainability.

WHY SOUTH SUDAN?
Republic of South Sudan is located strategically along the Nile basin with The White Nile dissecting through the country upwards. The country also boasts of large chunks of uncultivated fertile land. Over the years, South Sudan has been overdependent on foreign food supply even for the most basic of farm products that can be locally produced.. Vendors imports food items from neighbouring Republic of Uganda and Kenya.
South Sudan’s livestock population is estimated at 12 million cattle1. According to a report by the Food and Agriculture
Administration (FAO), South Sudan is a world leader in terms of animal wealth per capita. Another estimate puts the livestock population in South Sudan at 11,816,672 cattle, 13,974,135 goats, and 12,611,522 sheep totaling to 57 Million cattle, goats and sheep against a human population of 11 Million. Despite the enormous livestock wealth, South Sudan still imports most of its meat from neighbouring Kenya and Uganda. With this in focus, South Sudan is so fertile for nthis event more than before. The country is adopting new ways of doing things and currently focusing on self sustainability measure to end overdependence on imported agricultural produce that can be sourced locally through proper agriculture.
